Visual Arts Take Center Stage at Door County Plein Air Festival

Local and regional artists are invited to participate in this year’s Dockside Quick Paint on July 27. Visual arts will take center stage in Door County as local, regional and national artists converge on the peninsula to capture on canvas our picturesque shoreline, sandy beaches, rocky bluffs and large tracts of undisturbed woodlands, among other subjects, during the 2013 Door County Plein Air Festival.

The event draws thousands of visitors who attend free artist demonstrations, galleries and studios as well as the Quick Paint Competition in Clark Park on July 27.

Artists of every painting medium are invited to create plein air works from 9 – 11 am. Artist registration is 7 – 8:30 am. The First Place award recipient receives an invitation to be a featured artist in the 2014 Door County Plein Air Festival. All award winners receive art supplies courtesy of Artists Guild.

Finished Dockside Painters’ works are exhibited for sale at Peninsula School of Art on the evening of the competition, 6 – 8 pm, during the public Open Door Celebration. Attendees are invited to vote for the top three Dockside Painters, with the awards announced at 7:30 pm.
