Volunteer and Hiking Opportunities Abound at Crossroads

Volunteering and hiking opportunities abound at Crossroads at Big Creek.

Individuals of all ages and abilities are invited to volunteer at Crossroads as a part of the United Way Day of Caring on May 11. Indoor and outdoor tasks ranging from organizing the kitchen to planting trees will be accomplished between 9 am – 12 pm, and all volunteers will receive a complimentary breakfast and a Live United t-shirt. Running Green for Crossroads, scheduled for June 22, also needs volunteers. Organizers are also looking for early entry forms from runners as well. Those who register before June 12 receive a significant price break. Visit crossroadsrun.com for registration forms.

On May 11 the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society will hold a Viewing Night at the Astronomy Campus. Starting around 8 pm if skies are clear. By 9 pm, views of Saturn and stars should be spectacular. Viewing nights are free and open to the public.

Also on May 11 and 13, join the naturalist at 4:30 pm for wildflower hikes. A Mother’s Day hike will be held on May 12 at 3 pm. All hikers should meet at the Collins Learning Center, and no experience is necessary.

The Collins Learning Center is open 2 – 4:30 pm daily; all trails are open. Crossroads is located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay.
