Volunteer Meeting for Tug Tours

The Door County Maritime Museum is currently in the final planning stages to relocate the tug John Purves in front of the Sturgeon Bay museum and is coordinating regular tours of the historic vessel.

The tug constitutes an amazing volunteer effort thus far, and the eventual relocation and opening of the tug culminates a five-year restoration effort of the former Roen Steamship Co. workhorse. However, more volunteers are needed to assist with the tours.

An organizational meeting of volunteers will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 4 pm at the museum in Sturgeon Bay (120 N. Madison Ave). Anyone who has already signed up or is interested in volunteering is asked to attend.
