If you enjoy making a difference in the life of the elderly, then becoming a volunteer advocate in nursing homes may interest you. The State of Wisconsin Board on Aging and Long-Term Care is recruiting volunteer ombudspeople in northeastern Wisconsin who represent the board and work with the state’s regional ombudsperson to provide advocacy services to residents living in nursing homes. Volunteers are screened, trained, assigned to a single facility in their community and supported by that region’s volunteer coordinator. They also receive ongoing assistance and guidance to ensure that residents’ rights are upheld.
Currently there is a need for a volunteer ombudsperson at Good Samaritan, Scandia Village. To learn more, call Kim Verstegen at 920.448.5540 or 800.815.0015.
