Volunteers Awarded at Helpful Hearts Banquet

On May 20, Lakeshore Community Action Program Inc. hosted the second annual Helpful Hearts Volunteer Appreciation Banquet at Holiday Inn. Six awards are given in the following categories: building, helping and teaching. Lakeshore Community Action Program received more than 150 nominations from the community. There were 20 semifinalists for the organization nominees and twenty individual nominees. The Organization of the Year for the Building category is Painting Pathways Clubhouse. The Volunteer of the Year for the Building category is Melissa Jacquart. The Organization of the Year for the Helping category is First Presbyterian Church. The Volunteer of the Year for the Helping category is Lucas Smith. The Organization of the Year for the Teaching category is the Silver Lake College Backpack Club. The Volunteer of the Year for the Teaching category is Lisa Stolp. All of the award winners received a $500 check to give to an organization of their choice.
