Volunteers Needed for Camp Meenahga Anniversary at Pen Park

Peninsula State Park seeks volunteers to commemorate Camp Meenahga. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of Camp Meenahga, a girls camp that operated in Peninsula State Park from 1916 – 1948. To celebrate, the park is featuring art from one of the camp’s yearbooks as its Like to Hike pin, creating a camp history book, and bringing back a popular four-stage geocache. Peninsula Naturalist Kathleen Harris is seeking volunteers to help with preparation. “I’m looking for a volunteer to recreate the felt Meenahga Pine Tree award given for posture,” said Harris, “and ‘M’ awards for skills. We’ll be giving these to kids this summer, just for fun.” Peninsula also seeks an experienced geocacher to put the four-stage geocache in place and periodically check the caches. “We also need a handy person or two to install small new signs along the White Cedar Nature Trail.” To volunteer, call 920.559.2447 or [email protected].
