Volunteers Recognized with Governor’s Service Awards

Maryssa Paulsen

Governor Tony Evers stated that the 2021 Governor’s Service Awards would honor nine Wisconsinites and five organizations that are spearheading “positive, impactful change through their service to the people of Wisconsin.”

Five of the honorees have impacted Northeastern Wisconsin through their service, including Maryssa Paulsen, Lisa Penterman, DPI AmeriCorps Farm to School, the Wisconsin Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, and MCHS AmeriCorps Volunteer Wisconsin.

Paulsen was recognized as the Volunteer Coordinator of the Year for her efforts at New Leaf Foods, Inc. in Green Bay. Through her AmeriCorps service with MCHS Volunteer Wisconsin, she has expanded their Garden Blitz program and coordinated their outreach efforts to develop sustainable local food systems with their NEW Food Forum.

A recording of the ceremony is available on the AmeriCorps YouTube channel.
