von Stiehl Now Offering Hard Ciders

On Friday and Saturday afternoons into September, you can enjoy draft hard cider at von Stiehl Winery in Algoma. Known for its wide selection of wines, the winery has branched out to offer ciders on its outdoor terrace alongside the Ahnapee River during its popular live-music series. Tables and a tent are set up for the music performances. 

Molly Schroeder, marketing director, suggests trying a cider flight: “That way you can determine which one is your favorite,” she said. “It’s hard for me to pick just one, though.”

Guests can enjoy bottles or draft cider with rotating flavors, including hard cherry, hard apple and varieties aged in bourbon, rum and tequila barrels. Rotating seasonal offerings include raspberry rosé, guava hopped session cider, blueberry cream and cranberry.

Bottled ciders are available for purchase in the tasting room and at local grocers, and the draft cider will soon be sold by the growler.
