Walk Brings Awareness to Suicide Prevention

Suicide affects so many people, but it’s often spoken of in hushed terms or not at all. Prevent Suicide Door County is committed to reducing the number of suicides in the county through prevention, education, public awareness and overcoming stigma.

The group will host a Walk for Hope to spread awareness and connection Sept. 12, 4 pm. The event will start with live music by Cathy Grier at Sturgeon Bay’s Martin Park and food by Get Real Café at 4:30 pm. At 5:30 pm, participants will start moving west across the Maple-Oregon Street Bridge, north to the Michigan Avenue Bridge and back to Martin Park. Walkers are encouraged to carry or wear a large picture of their loved one.
