Walk Down Memory Lane at Vignes School

The Door County Historical Society will host a Vignes School reunion Sept. 16 at Heritage Village at Big Creek, where former students and teachers can relive their school days. The reunion is open to the public, and guests are welcome to stop by anytime between 11 am and 4 pm. 

Located in Clay Banks in southern Door County, Vignes was a Norwegian community for which the schoolhouse was named. Local residents built the school during the 1890s, and it became a cornerstone of the community because it hosted concerts, plays, holiday programs, graduation ceremonies and town hall meetings until the early 1990s.
