Wanda Jean’s Family Restaurant will donate 10 percent of all sales to Door County Habitat for Humanity on July 14. Customers can order anything on the menu, all item sales are included. Wanda Hilsabeck, owner of Wanda Jean’s, said it’s important for her business to be involved in the community, and this is a way to do that. The money raised will go to help Door County continue its work of helping families in the county have decent and affordable housing.
Door County Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to help families in the county with a hand up to acquire decent and affordable housing. Habitat partners with families to build an affordable home for that family, then sells it to the family at a zero-percent interest mortgage. Families must contribute time during the home build, then make monthly mortgage and escrow payments. In addition to the home build, Habitat for Humanity also does home repairs for people who own their home but cannot afford the upfront cost of a repair and cannot do the work themselves. Partners are selected based on need, their ability to repay the costs and their willingness to help with their home or repair project.
