Washington Island Artists in UU Gallery Exhibit

In January the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC) is featuring artists who are members of the Washington Island Art Association.

The WIAA was formed in the early 1960s by a group of artists who gathered on Washington Island at Martha Stelter’s Holiday Inn to paint and make art. The Association has continued to grow in popularity and today sponsors many classes, open workshops, and art shows. Washington Island’s pristine land and water vistas offer endless subjects to inspire artists.

This year the show offers works by artists in watercolor, pastel, oil, mixed media, acrylic, and pen and ink. A variety of subject matter is expressed, from lighthouses, waterscapes, and landscapes to birds and trees, and styles range from realistic to abstract.

The UU Gallery is located at 10341 Hwy. 42 in north Ephraim. Gallery hours are 1-3 pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and by appointment. For more information call 920.854.7559.
