Washington Island Literary Festival Coming in September

Writers and readers will have a unique opportunity to learn from prominent authors at the Washington Island Literary Festival in September. The festival is presented by Write On, Door County as part of the Writing On the Door conference series.

Presenting authors include fiction writers Lesley Nneka Arimah, Chris Cander, Christina Clancy and Alexander Weinstein; nonfiction writer Megan Stielstra; and poet Adrian Matejka.

On Sept. 16, Weinstein will lead the Creative Lab – a free community event open to all ages – to focus on “freeing the inner writer” and exploring ways to keep a sense of play, curiosity and wonder alive in writing.

The presenting authors and other special guests will host a variety of writing workshops Sept. 17, half of which will be presented virtually. Morning workshops will run 10 am – 12 pm; the afternoon workshops will be offered 2-4 pm.

Elizabeth Evans Sachs will moderate a Sept. 18 panel discussion with the presenting authors, during which each will present an individual talk or pair with another writer for a conversation.Find out more and register at writeondoorcounty.org/events/conferences/wilf.
