Washington Island Matching Challenge Funds Closes In On Its Goal

As of Oct. 31, the Washington Island Matching Challenge fund was 89 percent of the way to its $200,000 goal and the Washington Island Foundation, Inc. (the REC) had virtually attained 100 percent of its $100,000 goal.

“That’s really exciting news to share,” the Matching Challenge Fund Committee said in a press release. “However, it emphasizes the importance of not resting on our laurels, but continuing to work to make it 100 percent for both WIFI and TPAC by Dec. 31.”

Recently, the Matching Challenge Fund Committee sent a letter to all Washington Island property owners encouraging them to help the committee reach its goals. Pledges and donations can be sent to W.I. Matching Challenge Fund, PO Box 136, Washington Island, WI 54246; credit card donations can be made at truebloodpac.com. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Pledging opportunities will also be available at this year’s Home for the Holidays Concert at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 7 pm. This special holiday event features Julian Hagen, the Community Band, Island Players, young performers from Washington Island School, plus lots of surprises. All proceeds of the event will support the Matching Challenge Fund for the benefit of TPAC.

TPAC will provide four tickets for 2016 performance events to people who pledge or donate during the concert; the REC will offer four one-day-passes as well. Children less than 12 attend free; adults enjoy a special $10 holiday ticket price.
