The Washington Island Mosling Recreation Center will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its dedication May 19, 12:30-2:30 pm, with an Open House and Community Health and Wellness Fair. The Health Fair includes health screenings, demonstrations, interaction with health and wellness providers and refreshments. A free-will collection for the Rec at the Health Fair will be eligible for matching in the 2018 Revenue Challenge. Donations will also be collected for the Washington Island Community Health Program.
The focus of the 2018 Rec Center Revenue Challenge is to increase awareness and promote health and wellness through community participation in the Rec’s programs. Registering for and participating in the 2k, 5k, 10k Rec Run ( July 28) will count toward this challenge. Becoming a new member or user at the Rec, gifting memberships to family and friends or becoming a Challenge Member will also count. The challenge ends Dec. 31, 2018. If successful, the Rec will receive $55,000 in unrestricted matched funds. Until then, the Spring Campaign is matching $20,000 in dollar-for-dollar donations to the Washington Island Foundation or Rec Center at PO Box 68, Washington Island, WI 54246. Register for the Rec Run or donate at moslingreccenter.org.
