Washington Island Yacht Club to Hold Picnic July 9

The Washington Island Yacht Club (WIYC) under the leadership of Commodore Gary Delzell and the Board of Directors held strategic planning meetings last year. The outcomes of those meetings are the new Vision of Fellowship – Recreation – Service and mission statement: Creating Fellowship through social, recreational, and service activities on the Island and waters surrounding it. The WIYC also launched a new website (wiyachtclub.com) with information on their history, membership, events calendar, helpful links, and more.

The WIYC is a group of individuals and families with ties to the Island who share a common appreciation for what the Island has to offer. Events and gatherings reflect ever-changing member interests, which include biking, hiking, kayaking, boating, water sports, picnics, golfing, dinners, and more.

Forty-one members and guests of the WIYC enjoyed the Commodore’s Dinner at Sunset Resort on May 27. Laughter, stories about winter escapades, and tips for getting the cottage ready were all part of dinner conversation.

The WIYC membership picnic is set for July 9, 11 am, at Washington Harbor Pavilion. The public is welcome.
