Washington Islands Birding Festival

The Washington Islands Birding Festival will be May 16-19. The festival visits Washington, Plum and Rock Islands. Registration opened Jan. 20.

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will have bird netting and banding on all three islands, and there will be an evening program at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center. The birding happens rain or shine, but the boat trips to Rock and Plum Island are weather- and wind-dependent. If the weather prevents these trips, there will be alternative birding activities.

The festival is limited to 60 registrants, and a waiting list will be maintained. Anyone registering for the event should make lodging reservations on Washington Island early. A list of lodging options is available at washingtonisland.com.
