Watercolor & Pastels at Base Camp Coffee Bar

Pastel by Gail Ledbetter

Watercolor artist Sally J. Malms and pastel artist Gail Ledbetter will present their work at Base Camp Coffee Bar in Sister Bay.

A member of the Door County Art League, Malms has painted all her life and displayed her work at various venues throughout the county. Her watercolor entitled “Sentinels” has been included in the book The Wild Places of Door County. She enjoys the free flow of work watercolor provides and experimenting with different kinds of papers.

Ledbetter has a wide interest in art from photography to ceramic to architecture, which she studied in Rome. She has a degree in art education and has experience teaching high school and adult students. Today she primarily works with pastels, which allows her to express her love for colors and light.

“I hope to capture the harmony and peace of Door County in my pastels,” she said.

The exhibit will open Feb. 20 and continue until March 18. Base Camp Coffee Bar, located at 10904 Highway 42 in Sister Bay, is open daily from 7 am – 4 pm. For more information call 920.854.7894.
