Watercolorist Bridget Austin Featured Cottage Row Framing & Gallery

Bridget Austin has been fascinated by the medium of watercolor since 1975. Capturing the changing seasons, nature studies, and landscapes – at home and abroad – Austin has embraced watercolor’s creative possibilities with a passion.

Fresh and masterful, Austin’s watercolor paintings will be featured at Cottage Row Framing & Gallery during a special exhibit entitled “Something New.” The exhibit will open on Saturday, August 1 and continue through the month. The public is invited to attend a meet the artist reception with Bridget Austin on opening day, from 10 am – 1 pm.

A Wisconsin native, Austin cherishes a lengthy history with the Door Peninsula and is well acquainted with its beauty. “I have an extensive association with Door County in so many ways and on so many levels. And as often as I have painted here, I always find new inspiration,” she explained. “It’s always exciting.”

Austin’s dedication to Door County and her passion for watercolor have resulted in a wide scope of paintings. “I enjoy painting many different elements in nature; I don’t limit myself to just one ‘thing.’  Something catches my eye and I want to create a memory of the experience.”

In the course of her career as a watercolorist, Austin has taught and exhibited extensively throughout Door County. She has taught classes at the Peninsula School of Art every year since 1981; her association with The Clearing began four years later. Austin’s paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally including the American and National Watercolor Societies juried shows.

“Something New” will include more than 30 Bridget Austin watercolor paintings in a variety of sizes. The paintings will be available framed and/or matted.

Cottage Row Framing & Gallery also features Wisconsin artists Jack Anderson, Kay Arneson, Charles L. Peterson, Bridget Austin, Michael Bond, Jim Davel, Marianne Diekman, Kathy Glasnap, Mary Johnson, June Maeder, and Mark VanderVinne.
