For the week of July 5, watercolorist Barbara Kenyon and oil painter Jo Watson will be the featured artists at the Gallery of the Door County Art League. Watson will also be demonstrating at the gallery on Sunday, July 5, 1 – 3 pm.
Kenyon, who describes her work as traditional and sometimes very realistic, was a graphic artist for 38 years. Kenyon studied at the American Academy of Art and took workshops with a number of artists. She received many awards for her art while exhibiting at art fairs in Illinois. Now a resident of Fish Creek with her husband Bob, Kenyon has been involved in the Door County Art League for many years.
Watson’s main mediums are oil painting and printmaking. She has always been creative but most recently graduated from UWGB with a BA in Studio Art in 2005 and has been a full-time artist since then. In the spring of 2008, Watson began teaching Oil Painting through NWTC as an adjunct instructor. Working in both her home studio and her studio at the ARTGarage in Green Bay, she has been experimenting with water mixable oils for painting and water-based inks in printmaking.
