Artist Lee Mothes states that a lifelong fascination with beaches, waves and the energy of water has inspired his large scale, realistic watercolor and acrylic paintings. Spending most of his childhood near the water, Mothes pieces feature places he has lived or visited, including California, Oregon, Lake Michigan, and the Irish seaside.
His show at the Katie Gingrass Gallery opened earlier this month as a benefit for the Door County Humane Society. The show will run through the middle of June, during that time, 25 percent of the gross gallery sales will be donated to the humane society by the gallery and Liberty Square.
Future artist openings at The Katie Gingrass Gallery, located in Egg Harbor, will benefit other non-profits including the Peninsula Art School, Birch Creek Music Festival, Door County Land Trust and Altrusa.
