Wear Blue Against Sexual Assault April 12

The Kewaunee County Department of Human Services and Violence Intervention Project (VIP) are asking Kewaunee County residents to wear blue and unite to take a stand against child abuse and sexual assault. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month as well as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. On April 12, the community is being asked to join hands outside of the Kewaunee County Courthouse, 613 Dodge Street, at 3:30 pm. The purpose of “Hands Around the Courthouse” is to draw recognition to the fact that VIP provided services to 49 individuals in Kewaunee County, including men, women and children, as a result of sexual assault in 2016. And, the Kewaunee County Department of Human Services received reports for 79 children who were victims of abuse or neglect. “We all have a role in preventing child abuse and neglect and sexual assault,” said Robert Mattice, Director of Kewaunee County Department of Human Services. “Say something, do something to help all victims,” said Mattice. If you have concerns or suspicions of child abuse, neglect or sexual assault, please contact local law enforcement, Kewaunee County Department of Human Services at 920.388.7030 or Violence Intervention Project at 920.487.2111 for help.
