Wearable Art Show Welcomes Two New Exhibitors

The free Door County Wearable Art Show will return Oct. 5, 9 am – 5 pm; and Oct. 6, 10 am – 4 pm, to the Sister Bay Village Hall. Newcomers will be Joan Kennedy of Journey Fiber Arts and Baileys Harbor artist Peter Ciesla of Bazyli Studio.

Kennedy’s botanically inspired wearable art celebrates the joy of creating and using handmade articles, as well as the women who passed down the skills and traditions of creating beautiful, functional items that are essential to daily life. She hand-dyes her fabrics and sews her work before felting it, creating dimensional handbags, hats and scarves.

Ciesla is a fiber artist and designer with a background in art and costume design who emigrated from Wroclaw, Poland in 1991. In 1993, he started his own couture custom clothing studio, Creative Apparel Design, on Chicago’s north shore. He has earned many awards, including the nationally recognized Niche Award for Surface Design.
