“Wee Prints” Are More Than Just Little

Beth Truso’s line of Wee Prints Jewelry, now available at the Santa Fe Shop in Fish Creek, combines her experience in jewelry design with her love of printmaking.

Truso is a mixed media artist living in Santa Cruz, California who creates her images from her grab bag of skills including printmaking, silkscreen, photography, and collage. In making her jewelry, Truso uses archival ink miniature reproductions or snippets of her actual prints. The wee prints are framed in sterling silver settings and encased in a jeweler’s grade epoxy.

Inspired by the natural world, Truso creates printing plates with imagery, through various printmaking techniques, such as etchings for line, monotypes for color, and collographs for texture. The plates are then run through a press to transfer the ink from the plate to the paper. On occasion, Truso will create a series of prints, though she enjoys creating one-of-a-kind images.
