Weekend Forecast

The kids are back to their fractions and periodic tables, a chilly wind with the breath of autumn sweeps over Lake Michigan. Transition time.

But, hey – the fun is far from over. You’re ready for a fabulous fall weekend in Door County! In fact, I’ve got a tentative jam-packed plan for Saturday.

1

1_The beach is not out of the question. Though the water may have dropped a few degrees, a refreshing swim may be the perfect way to start your afternoon.

If the thought of dipping your nearly naked body in the water makes you cringe, the timeless activity of sitting and gazing out at the lake is always an option – it’s the best thing since…since forever and ever.

3 Painting by Jack Anderson.

2_When the goose bumps spread over your skin, it’s time to layer up in some fall fashions – flannels and long jeans.

3_Now you’re ready to take in Door County’s fantastic art scene. Swing by Cottage Row Gallery & Framing near Fish Creek to meet artist Jack Anderson from 10 am – 1 pm. The gallery also features a variety of work from other great artists including Charles L. Peterson, Bridget Austin, and Kathy Glasnap.

4_To curb your hunger, order a large, tasty pizza at the Sister Bay Bowl’s new outdoor bar, Alley Bar.

5

5_A fancy after-dinner cocktail at Top Deck Restaurant & Bar at Gordon Lodge will wash down that pizza right. The panoramic view of the water complements a Brandy Alexander topped with homemade whip cream or a Blue Cosmo garnished with a slice of lime very well.

6_Your excitement for the Green Bay Packers will obviously be a constant throughout the day. Since there is no game this weekend, the Peninsula Players offer a fantastic alternative to watching ESPN highlights with their production of Lombardi.

Bears fans, Lions fans, even 49ers fans cannot help but be inspired by former Packers’ coach Vince Lombardi. (Admit it – you know he’s awesome.) Go Pack, go!
