Weekend Recap

It was a busy weekend in Door County! See how the Pulse staff spent it:

On Saturday morning, Alissa Ehmke and her son met up with their good friend Bonnie Seaquist at Peninsula School of Art’s SOUP!, an annual fundraiser to raise money for family art days. (It’s a delicious fundraiser, and makes giving a lot of fun!)

We chowed down on red lentil soup from Base Camp and Bohemian potato chowder from Czarnuska while admiring our newly-aquired Batman and Vespa bowls.

What could be more entertaining than watching good friends kicking and tossing an oversized inflatable ball in a foot of snow? Not much, at least for Sally Slattery, who attended Winter Fest in Fish Creek on Saturday.

Winter Fest succeeded, once more, in living up to its wacky reputation – minnow races, the wheel of meat, a toilet seat toss. What a day! Click here to read more about the history of Winterfest, in Matt Ledger’s story “Fish Creek’s Silly Olympics Are Here Again.”

Carol Thompson wrangled up some friends to hit the cross-country ski trails at Peninsula State Park and Newport State Park. It was a beautiful, sunny weekend! Pictured: Matthew Olson (left) and Brian Simpson showing off their skiing skills.
