“Live Green…Save Green,” is the theme for the 2012 Home Energy Fair presented by WEP, Inc. Oct. 13, 9 am – 2 pm, at the Cherry Point Mall.

Participants can meet energy experts during demonstrations and presentations concerning plumbing, heating and electrical alternatives; insulation, sealing and indoor air quality; benefits of a home energy audit and energy efficiency.

The film Kilowatt Ours: A Plan to Re-Energize America will also be featured for viewing, and The Kids Zone will host educational games and a puppet show about energy conservation.

Also during the fair, WEP’s House of Pressure will be unveiled. Most home energy tests that can be performed on an actual home can be performed utilizing the House of Pressure. The House is made of a high strength plastic laminate, so the inside of the House is visible from all four sides. The House has an operable forced air duct system, a dryer, bathroom fan, fireplace and hot water heater. There are smoke generators for the fireplace, water heater and car exhaust. This visual tool shows duct leakage and how it can effect health, safety, comfort, durability and energy efficiency.

The Home Energy Fair is free to the public. There will be food, refreshments, door prize drawings and a chance to win a Home Energy Audit valued at $500.
