What Happened in Door County?

• At its Sept. 17 meeting, the Egg Harbor Town Board voted to support changes to the original Horseshoe Bay Golf Club’s land plat. The changes essentially swap a 100-foot plot of land south of Horseshoe Bay Beach Club, next to Murphy Park, with a 100-foot plot of land north of the beach club. The town will now receive the land north of the beach club.

• The Town of Sevastopol has formed an ad hoc committee to examine what, if anything, should be done about the rapid aging of Dunes Lake. Thirteen community members, including representatives from the County Board, Sevastopol School, and Doorland Preserve, will begin meeting to discuss findings from the county’s Soil and Water Conservation Department and ultimately present an idea of what the town would like to see done at the lake.

• The Town of Jacksonport began the process of applying for a Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Grant to assist in the purchase of the property adjacent to Lakeside Park. At its Sept. 25 meeting, the town contracted with Vandewalle and Associates to write the grant. It’s expected that the application will be complete by the middle of November.

• The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has proposed revisions to the state’s endangered and threatened species list. Eight species would be added, and 16 would be removed. The department is looking for public comments about the economic impact of the proposal, to be sent before Oct. 24 to [email protected] or mailed to:
