What Happened in Door County?

• At its Oct. 23 meeting, the Door County Board of Supervisors voted to award $25,000 to Corporation Counsel Grant Thomas in recognition of his service as the county’s interim administrator.

Thomas served as interim administrator from Mar. 27, after former administrator Michael Serpe was placed on leave on Feb. 24, until Oct. 1, when current administrator Maureen Murphy took over the position.

“I think since Grant has been the interim administrator this county’s never run smoother,” said Supervisor Chuck Brann. “We’ve had very little issues, the operation has been smooth, and we’ve gotten the job done.”

Thomas spoke at the meeting, saying he didn’t take on the extra responsibilities hoping for a reward.

“I wasn’t performing all the duties, and people stepped up and did what they needed to do – and that’s why things have gone smoothly,” said Thomas.
