What to do in Door County this Weekend: Jan. 23 – 25

With the Packers season officially, gut-wrenchingly over, it’s time to find ways to fill all those formerly football-filled hours of the week. Fortunately, we’re here to help. These are our best bets for the weekend ahead in Door County!

Katie Dahl: Local folk artist Katie Dahl takes the stage at Door Community Auditorium Saturday night at 7 pm. Smart, original folk from a local favorite. $15.

Opening Reception at Guenzel Gallery in Fish Creek: Featuring the “Guenzel Gallery Salon” exhibit. Cash people’s choice awards, live entertainment by Paul Sowinski and Jay Whitney of the band Big Mouth, refreshments and libations. Free. Saturday, Jan. 24 from 6 – 9pm.

• “Competing for the Governor’s Mansion”: Dr. Ivy Cargile presents in the St. Norbert College Distinguished Lecture Series. Take a look inside the 2014 election between Mary Burke and Gov. Scott Walker at 9 am on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Door Community Auditorium.

Minute 2 Win It Fundraiser at Stone Harbor Resort: Local adults perform crazy acts to support local youth training programs in our community. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the games begin at 6:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 23. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

• Naturalist Guided Snowshoe Hikes at The Ridges Sanctuary: Strap on some snowshoes (or hiking boots, if there is insufficient snow) and enjoy a naturalist-led hike at The Ridges in Baileys Harbor at 1pm on Friday, Jan. 23. Cost is $5 for Ridges members, $8 for general public, and free for children under 18.

Kids Activity Days at Baileys Harbor Town Hall: Activity Days include Arts & Crafts, Board Games, Ping Pong, Air Hockey, and other fun games. Snacks & drinks are provided and all ages are welcome from 11am – 2pm on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Take a tour of the countryside and sample wines with a Winter Wonderland Trolley Tour: Tour and award-winning winery, take a cozy sleigh ride, and top it off with brunch.
