June is upon us, even if the weather indicates otherwise. Kick off the first month of summer break with our top picks for the weekend ahead:
Friday, June 5
Jim Counter at Kitty O’Reilly’s: Bringing you the sounds of James Taylor, Green Day, Bob Seger, The Eagles and The Beatles with live music. 7 pm.
Opening Reception at The Hardy: Featuring the 53rd Annual Juried Exhibit. 5:30 – 7 pm.
Tabah at Door County Brewing Co.: A 5-piece rock, psychedelic, soul and funk band from Minnesota. 7 – 9 pm.
“Riverside Drive” at Benny D’z: Woody Allen’s brand of quirkly, intellectual, biting humor. Presented by Rogue Theater. 7:30 pm.
Saturday, June 6
“Art for a Great Paws” at Door County Humane Society: The work of 30 local, regional and national artists will be on display and available for purchase. Wine and cheese reception. All proceeds directly benefit DCHS. 4-6 pm.
Deathfolk at Crossroads at Big Creek: Jess Holland and Nick Hoover playing old-timey, folk music peppered with tight harmonies during the Sustainable Living Fair. 11 am.
Free Fishing Weekend throughout Wisconsin: All day residents and nonresidents of all ages can fish without a license (or trout or salmon stamps) in all the waters of Wisconsin. All other fishing regulations still apply.
Sunday, June 7
Fish Prints at Potawatomi State Park: Bring and old t-shirt or pillowcase to the nature center to create an aquatic masterpiece. There will be a boatload of fishing info. 10 am.
State Park Open House: All day entrance to any state park, forest, trail and recreation areas is free! Get outside and enjoy one of our many state parks with no passes or stickers required.
