What’s Coming Up in Door County?

• The Administrative Committee of the Door County Board of Supervisors will most likely recommend a candidate for the County Administrator position at this month’s board meeting on August 28.

Board and Administrative Committee chair Dan Austad said that Maureen Murphy, who currently works as Village Administrator in Slinger, stood out to the committee as the best candidate for the job. Final background checks on Murphy have yet to come in, so the Administrative Committee will be holding a special meeting on Aug. 27 to confirm its choice, provided Murphy clears all the checks.

“Hopefully it’ll be something we all agree on,” said Austad of the planned recommendation to the board. “Everything’s been pretty positive so far.”

• The Ephraim planning committee will hear public comments at its Aug. 28 meeting at 7 pm regarding a conditional use request from a resident about a building on his property. His proposal calls for a use change from transient rental cottages to multi-family under condominium ownership. Written comments should be sent to [email protected] before 3 pm on Aug. 28.

• The Sevastopol Town Board is looking for people interested in serving on a subcommittee tasked with determining what the town should do with Dunes Lake.

At the end of 2012, the Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department must submit a management plan for the lake. Board chairman Leo Zipperer said he hopes the subcommittee can discuss any and all issues that stakeholders may have regarding the lake before SWCD submits its plan. Those who would like to serve on the committee can contact the town at 746.1230.
