What’s Coming Up in Door County?

• The Town of Jacksonport is interested in compiling the stories and history of the people who live there. The town will hold a meeting June 7 at 7 pm where residents can tell their interesting anecdotes about living in Jacksonport. Some of the information gathered may be used for a future Lakeside Park kiosk project.

• Door County’s Emergency Services Committee will discuss the report of the government consultant firm Public Administration Associates, LLC, that outlines how the county could save $195,130.

The presentation at the May 22 County Board meeting by Jim Austad and Tim Franz of Public Administration Associates suggested a number of steps the county could take to better its EMS system. Chief among those were hiring three new staff members, which would alleviate the excessive amount of overtime hours being put in by the current 12 staff members, the stationing of an extra catch-all ambulance in Egg Harbor from May to October, and the dissolution of the Southern Door ambulance services currently running out of Brussels.

If the services in Brussels were canceled, the Southern Door area would still be served by 18 Emergency Medical Responders, and ambulances would respond from Sturgeon Bay or adjacent counties.
