What’s Coming Up in Door County?

• The Sevastopol School Board will likely be asking Sevastopol residents to approve a new revenue limit override referendum in April. The override will allow the school to exceed state-imposed limits on the amount of funds it can raise through property taxes. The district’s current two-year override expires as of the 2012-2013 school year.

At its June 11 meeting the board discussed a three-year referendum that would raise an additional $900,000 for the district in its first year before increasing to $1,000,000 for the last two years. Without the referendum, the school will face a $600,000 deficit during the 2013-2014 school year.

• The Harbor Hounds Dog Park at Village View Park in Egg Harbor will officially open June 23. In addition to cookies, lemonade and special Stove Dog treats, the Door County Humane Society will be on hand to micro-chip dogs for $25 from 10 am – 2 pm.
