What’s Coming Up in Door County?

• The Sevastopol Board of Supervisors will be having a special meeting on June 25 at 5 pm to award contracts for the town’s 2012 roadwork.

Bids from the Door County Highway Department and Northeast Asphalt were accepted at the board’s June 18 meeting. Both bids came in over the $200,000 amount the town has budgeted for this year’s road work, so the town will most likely only move ahead with some of the eight projects it asked for bids on.

Those projects include wedging and paving on portions of Mathey, Jarman, Ripp, and Moore Road and sealcoating on portions of Edwards and Dennis Drive and North and South Shoreside Circle.

• Construction is expected to wrap up on Sturgeon Bay’s 4th Avenue and traffic is expected to return to normal on June 22, weather permitting.

A completion date on the alley between 3rd and 4th Avenues, however, remains undetermined. A building on the corner of Louisiana Street and the alley was damaged during the construction process, and while the city continues to look for solutions, alternatives thus far include a risk that additional damage could be done to the building.
