Wheel Throwing Demonstrations at TR Pottery

Potter Tony Gebauer will demonstrate his technique every Monday.

Watch pottery being made during special demonstrations on Mondays in July and August from 2 – 3 pm at TR Pottery. Potter Tony Gebauer works in a production style, and says, “I want to stay consistent over time. Even though each piece is handmade, a small bowl I made in 2002 should nest nicely with one I make in 2012.”

Gebauer makes functional pots, designed and priced for everyday use. Working in stoneware, his work is also microwave and dishwasher safe.

“I work in the studio every day during the summer, so for people not able to get to one of our Monday demonstrations there are other opportunities to see me throw pots on the wheel,” said Gebauer. “Or, other times I might be trimming the bottoms of bowls or adding handles to mugs. I also glaze pots and load and unload kilns. And the luckiest visitors get to watch me mopping the studio floor.”

After watching the demonstration, guests are invited to the gallery to see the finished pieces.

TR Pottery is a working studio and gallery located on Main Street in Fish Creek (next to The Cookery Restaurant). For more information call 920.868.1024 or visit http://www.trpottery.com.
