“When Billy Broke His Head” at Greens N Grains’ Dinner And Movie

When Billy Broke His Head is the next Dinner and a Movie feature at Greens N Grains on Jan. 23 at 7 pm.

The film is an entertaining, irreverent road movie about disability, civil rights and the search for intelligent life after brain damage. Winner of the Sundance Film Festival’s Freedom of Expression Award in 1995, it has been out of print and unavailable for several years. Recently, Kartemquin Films has brought it back to distribution and the Green Door Film Society at Greens N Grains acquired a copy for the screening.

Following a traffic-accident, award-winning radio host and entertainer Billy Golfus woke from a coma to find himself hospitalized with a massive head-injury, a hemiplegic and totally dependent on others. The film that resulted is a first-person narrative that tells the story of his personal struggle to make a new life for himself.

Greens N Grains Cafe offers a natural and organic dinner special each evening before the Film Society screenings. Enjoy a soup specialty, salad, a fresh baked roll and a cup of tea for $7.50, available from 6 pm on. Screenings are free, but seating is limited to 30 people. Dinner and film reservations are advisable. To RSVP, call 920.868.9999 or email [email protected].
