When Will it End?

There are times when I sit and wonder when the war in Iraq will end – the agony, the suffering, the sorrow and death.

I do not believe I should be so naïve as to be easily swayed into thinking it is a just war. For years now, it has brought on ruin, weeping faces, hopelessness, and horror. The question is when will it end?

When will the winds stop carrying the cries of those Americans who have lost their loved ones?

The war in Iraq is a war of politics…of who gets what when they give it back. It is a miscalculation by those rolling around in their own orbits.

War, any war, makes people weary. It burns them out, leaves them without hope. It is an outrageous thing; the tanks, the guns, the explosions that tear men apart and leaves them dead or wounded in the dirt.

I suppose some day the war in Iraq will end, and like all wars that end, it will bring on marching bands, and fluttering flags. Journalists will write about it. Television will bring on the jubilation for all to see.

But no matter who wins, there will be failure. The bitterness will linger, and so will the frustration of losing a loved one; who they were, what they had, and what they will never have again. All this because of those who think the making of armed conflict is the only way to keep the peace.
