Whitefish Bay’s Fall Exhibit Features Fiber Art

Whitefish Bay Farm Gallery will feature fiber art during its fall exhibit beginning Saturday, September 11 and continuing through Sunday, October 17. Included in the exhibit will be work from 10 local fiber artists. As always, the naturally colored yarn from the flock of white and colored Corriedale sheep at Whitefish Bay Farm will be available for knitters, crocheters, or weavers.

Highlighting the exhibit will be the quilt art of Loraine Brink. Three of her pieces in the exhibit include “Split Logs,” a twist on a traditional log cabin design, “Dusty,” her newest piece with three giraffes, as well as “The Cherry Tree,” a variation on a painting by Liz Maltman.

Brink’s early quilting classes with Carola McMullen gave her an excellent foundation from which to branch out. She now combines unusual patterns with her own creative designs.

“I seem to have a strong sense of color and use that to find fabrics that will fit into a particular project,” said Brink. “The satisfaction comes when it all works together.”

The gallery, open noon to 5 pm, Wednesday – Monday, is located 1 1/2 miles east of Hwy 57 on the road to Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point.
