Whitefish Dunes Welcomes Public for a Day of Events Jan. 29

On Saturday, Jan. 29, Whitefish Dunes State Park will host three events, a Book and Bake Sale, a Candlelight Ski, and Winter Star Gazing.

From 10 am – 8 pm, the Book and Bake Sale will take place at the Nature Center, sponsored by the Friends of Whitefish Dunes. Books will be on sale, some up to 20 percent off. Treats will also be available.

From 6 – 9 pm, participants can join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes for their annual “Candlelight Ski.” The picnic shelter will be open and the fireplace lit. Hot beverages and popcorn will be provided. No vehicle admission sticker is required to join the evening event; however, donations are appreciated.

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society will be in the parking lot from 6 – 8:30 pm. Members will set up telescopes and help viewers locate stars and constellations.

Volunteers are needed to help set out and pick up candles and to staff the shelter building refreshment table. For more information and/or to volunteer, call 920.823.2400.
