Wick Displays Pastel Landscapes in Door County Gallery

The George Burr Gallery of Ephraim has received over 30 original pastel works from Gary Wick. Several of the paintings were inspired by Wick’s numerous visits to Door County. His works are primarily landscapes, featuring water scenes, barn scenes, and sunsets.

Wick is a Chicago born artist who currently works with soft pastels. He is primarily a studio painter preferring to work from photographs he shoots.

“I prefer to document what I see rather than slap paint on a canvas abstractly,” said Wick. “I’m a realist, and I see life and art in that light.”

Wick has studied with professional artists over the years and has taken classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. He is a member of various art organizations and the La Grange Art League where he teaches pastels and various workshops.

He has been published in the April 2009 issue of the American Artist magazine and is included in the Best of American Pastel Artists, Vol. II printed by Kennedy Press.

The George Burr Gallery features landscape pastels by George Burr and Wick, the acrylics of Christine Ohman, as well as pottery, jewelry, wood, yard art and gifts. The gallery, open 10 am – 5 pm daily, is located at 10325 Highway 42 in Ephraim.
