Wild Ones Leads Wildflower Guided Walk

The woodlands of the peninsula are a showplace of ephemeral wildflowers at this time of spring when the foliage of trees does not yet provide shade. An excellent woodland remnant on the west side of Sturgeon Bay provides easy access to view natural groupings of eight to nine species of wildflowers. The woods are known as the Sawyer School Forest and as the Woodside Wildflower Preserve, framed by S. Neenah Avenue, Willow Drive, 42/57 bypass and S. Lansing Avenue. Parking and access to a comfortable trail are on Willow Drive across from the Sawyer School.

The Door Peninsula Chapter of Wild Ones invites the community to a guided walk of the site on May 15 at 4 pm. In case of significant rain the walk will be on the following day. Meet on Willow Drive close to Neenah Ave.

Wild Ones promote environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity and native plant communities.
