Will Pandemic-wrought Societal Changes Benefit the 99-percenters?

Six hundred years ago, the Black Plague disrupted the social, cultural and economic foundations of societies around the world. With a significantly reduced labor force, the rich were forced to loosen the bonds of serfdom that bound the lower classes, ultimately to the benefit of the 99-percenters.

Although obviously not as devastating as the Black Plague, we are seeing barely the tip of the iceberg regarding the ways in which COVID-19 is disrupting – and will continue to disrupt – our society for decades to come. Labor shortages? Yup. Wage increases? Check. Redistribution of wealth from the coffers of the 1%? We’ll see.
