The wineries of the Door County Wine Trail (doorcountywinetrail.com) are canceling the June 26 Door County Wine Festival, an annual gathering of the eight Door and Kewaunee county wineries that has become a favorite summer celebration in Sturgeon Bay.
“Due to the uncertainty of both the COVID-19 pandemic and summer staffing for each of the wineries and organizations involved with putting on this great event, we are unable to present the quality of experience our customers expect from us,” said Carrie Viste, president of the Door Wine Trail. “It’s with great regret that we will not be able to gather with our fellow Door County wine lovers at Sunset Park this summer.”
All tickets purchased for the 2020 event that were transferred to 2021 will be refunded. Those who bought festival tickets do not need to take any action.
Wine aficionados are encouraged to visit the Wine Trail wineries at their tasting rooms as available this summer. They include von Stiehl Winery, Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery, Stone’s Throw Winery, Red Oak Vineyard, Door 44, Simon Creek Winery, Door Peninsula Winery and Harbor Ridge Winery.
Plans for the 2022 Door County Wine Festival will be announced later.
