Hardy Gallery Winners Announced

“Summer’s Reflection” by Bill Doyle.

A skilled panel of artists has decided on the awards for the Hardy Gallery’s 52nd Annual Juried Exhibition. On view through July 13 at the dockside gallery, the exhibit includes work by more than 70 artists.

Jurors Bridget Austin, Karen Cook, Kristy Deetz, Lucas Frykman and Tony Staroska spent the morning of May 30th looking at, and contemplating works of art representing artists from Door County and regionally. Seventy-three works were selected out of 132 submissions.

With his quiet harbor scene, “Summer’s Reflection,” Bill Doyle took the exhibition’s top prize – the Francis Howe Hardy Watercolor Excellence Award for best watercolor painting. Connie Glowacki, Ernest Anderson and Daniel B. Anderson took home Juror’s Awards for their respective works: “Sunlit,” “Triangular Stool” and “Ying and Yang.” Regionally known photography instructor Bill Brown won the People’s Choice Award for his Digital Inkjet photograph, “Door County Ice.”

“The selection process is very difficult in a show that includes both professional and amateur artists. The work that was selected demonstrates excellent composition, craftsmanship and presentation,” said juror Tony Staroska.

Admission to the gallery is free. The Hardy Gallery, located on Anderson Dock in Ephraim, is open 10 am – 5 pm daily, 12 – 5 pm Sunday, and 10 am – 8 pm Monday. For more information, call 920.854.2210 or visit thehardy.org.
