White Gull Inn folk concerts – a tradition that began in 1983 – are returning this winter, when contemporary and traditional folk artists from around the country will play in the intimate, acoustic setting of the White Gull Inn’s dining room. An optional, prix-fixe dinner at 6 pm – featuring a different special selection by the chef each month – will precede each 8 pm concert.
The first featured group, playing Dec. 8-9, is The Special Consensus, a Grammy-nominated bluegrass band that plays with boundless energy and an aesthetic reverence for the music.
The menu for Dec. 8 includes coq au vin served over mashed Yukon golds, French bread, arugula, pomegranate and orange salad with citrus vinaigrette, and Door County apple cake. Dinner for Dec. 9 is beef bourguignon over mashed Yukon golds, French bread, winter greens, apple and fennel salad with citrus vinaigrette, and French silk pie.
Other upcoming performances include Third Coast Bluegrass on Jan. 12 and The Slocan Ramblers on April 27.
