Winter Scenes at Turtle Ridge Gallery

Mary Ellen Sisulak paints winter scenes using water-soluble encaustics, and the original artwork is printed on soft, luxurious scarves.

“My first sighting of a red fox was on Door Bluff, when I was skiing,” she said of a recent inspiration. “A mother tried to lead us away from her den, barking and luring our dogs to follow her. The baby foxes were snuggled in the leaves and popped their heads out. They looked at us with their intelligent, inquisitive eyes. We left them alone, but the memory stayed.”

Sisulak also drew inspiration from barred owls and Newport State Park and its dark skies.

See these works and much more at Turtle Ridge Gallery-Boutique, 11736 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay, Monday-Saturday, 11 am – 4 pm.
