Winterfest Weekend Is Here

The 33rd annual Fish Creek Winterfest is happening this weekend, Feb. 1-2, on the shore of Green Bay in Fish Creek. It’s a chance to get outside, get goofy and enjoy some great food, family fun and fireworks! Then keep the good times rolling with the Fruit Loop Run on Sunday morning.


Saturday, Feb. 1

10 am: 33rd annual Winterfest begins, Clark Park

Winterfest in Fish Creek is when the locals come out to play! First dubbed Winter Games by local resident and business owner Ron Merkel, for the last three-plus decades, Winterfest has been the place to be when the ice arrives. Good food, music, family games and local business events make the weekend fun for the whole family, whether you live on the peninsula or arrive for a weekend getaway.

10 am – 5 pm: Heated main tent is open in Clark Park

10 am – 3 pm: Game booths are open

11 am: Smokin’ Hot Chili Contest begins in the main tent

2 pm: Stumpf fiddle contest begins in the main tent

3 – 5 pm: Live music by Bacchus Lotus 

5:45 pm: Fireworks display begins

10 am: All Things Chocolate, Old Gibraltar Town Hall 

Enjoy a winter day by tasting loads of sweet chocolate treats to benefit the Gibraltar Historical Society and thereby support local historical organizations. Hot cocoa and coffee will also be served. While warming up, enjoy browsing some old-time photos of Fish Creek. 

10 am – 2 pm: Second annual S’mores Fundraiser, Clark Park, benefiting Gibraltar Fire and Rescue 

10 am – 5 pm: Lautenbach’s Cherry and Wine Fest, Lautenbach’s Orchard Country 

Enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides, wine-glass painting and complimentary food and wine tastings. (Reservations are recommended for sleigh rides. Call John Mayberry at 920.421.1152.)

12-4 pm: Live music by Ben Larsen

1:30 pm: Cherry-pit-spit competition

5:30 pm: Candlelight Ski and Hike, Peninsula State Park

9 pm: Live music by Big Mouth, Alexander’s

Sunday, Feb. 2

10 am: Fruit Loop Run, begins at Clark Park 

Put on your costume, and lace up your shoes for the sixth annual Fish Creek Fruit Loop Run. Registration for this 1/53 of a marathon (½-mile) fun run/walk through scenic downtown Fish Creek is free. A post-race gathering held inside the Clark Park tent will provide a breakfast of Froot Loops and the Olympic-style awards ceremony. Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the start.
