WIPC Tasked With Making Island’s Parks Self-Sustaining

The Washington Island Parks Committee (WIPC) is charged with making the island’s parks self-sustaining, so the newly appointed committee members have been active this winter sponsoring various activities, including the Polar Plunge at Schoolhouse Beach on New Year’s Day, skating at the Lion’s Club skating rink on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and a recent candlelight ski on Heritage Trail.

WIPC has also announced that Shannon Young has won its logo contest with her design, which captured the parks’ natural beauty and some of their landmarks. Her logo will appear on WIPC’s merchandise beginning this spring. Many of the other entrants will also see their creative handiwork displayed on items for sale throughout the year.
