Wisconsin Agricultural Numbers in 2014

Wisconsin’s agricultural exports rose by 13.6 percent in 2014 to a record $3.7 billion. The state’s increase was nearly three times greater than the growth rate for total U.S. agriculture exports in 2014 and marks the fifth straight year the Wisconsin’s numbers have risen. From January to December 2014, Wisconsin exported more than $3.6 billion worth of agricultural products to more than 145 countries. This value for agricultural exports is a record for Wisconsin and an increase of 13.6 percent compared to the same time period in 2013. This is the fifth year in a row that we have seen an increase in agricultural exports. Wisconsin continues to be ranked 13th overall for agricultural exports. The top five markets for Wisconsin ag products are led by Canada, with an export value of $1.6 billion, representing 13 percent growth; Mexico, $332 million, 27 percent; China, $278 million, -7 percent; Korea, $202 million, 32 percent; Japan, $144 million, 11 percent.

Wisconsin leads the nation in the export of whey, cranberries and ginseng roots.
